Dingo
Dingo was a pet at a hotel until he got involved in a fight with another dog
when local bitches came into season. His wound from the fight became infected
by maggots. His owners called in a vet who treated his injuries, but when
he came to the attention of Avis, live maggots were still present in the wound.
The maggots would have eventually eaten their way through to his brain.
The vets in Kerala deal mainly with livestock and so when treating dogs for
this type of injury they spray on a product to kill the maggots in the wound.
If the maggots are not physically removed the wound will not heal, and in
this case some remained alive and continued to eat away at the living flesh.
Sadly the Keralan vets are generally reluctant to get their hands dirty with
this necessary treatment.
